Known as the “Prairie State”, Illinois has a rich history and is famous for its role in the abolition of slavery. In today’s context, embracing positive change continues through the work of the Illinois Lottery. In 2019, it renewed its Responsible Gaming Certification level 3 and successfully achieved level 4 in 2022.
The effort Illinois Lottery has put into its work to improve the program is a real inspiration. The team made Responsible Gaming a top priority. Though the toughest part was managing the progression of projects to support their submission, alongside normal business activities, they worked together with responsible gaming experts from both DigitalRG and SustainableGAMING to strengthen their report.
Contributing to education and health
This collaborative approach is also key to their work within their communities. The Illinois Lottery provides critical funding to K-12 public schools and supports communities and other good causes across Illinois, including the Special Olympics, breast cancer research, and homelessness prevention. It has also teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club Alliance of Illinois to support students across the state whose access to learning has been impacted by Covid-19 and the stress associated with e-learning.
Through this partnership, the Illinois Lottery provides funding to the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Power Hour initiative, which helps youths achieve academic success by providing help with homework, tutoring, and high-yield learning activities.
Broadening CSR activities
Additionally, they continue to seek ways to expand their social responsibility efforts, including exploring new ways to contribute to global sustainability goals. DigitalRG has provided a number of helpful resources on the topic of sustainability to support their efforts in this area.
“We are in the process of reviewing how we might widen our CSR lens to incorporate Sustainable Development Goals,” concluded Emilia Mazur, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at the Illinois Lottery.
