WLA certification inspires public confidence in legal lottery and sports betting industry

Online sports betting and lottery products are growing in popularity, and rapidly evolving technologies, such as artificial intelligence are driving the continual development of new online offerings. It has never been more important for WLA members to ensure the security of their operations and responsible gaming environments for all customers.

Our latest magazine focuses on how we help our members achieve this through WLA security and responsible gaming certification, which benefits members and instils confidence in our industry as a whole.

In October this year, WLA will release the new iteration of the Security Control Standards, WLA SCS: 2024. In an interview with members of the WLA Security and Risk Management Committee (SRMC), who worked on the standard, we learn more about what to expect, as well as key changes and additions.

We also hear how the SRMC risk management members are developing important risk profiles for key risk categories, which describe a specific risk and its drivers, and offer mitigation strategies.

It has also been a busy year for the WLA Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, and partner organization DigitalRG.com, which provides the new platform for all four WLA Responsible Gaming certification levels.

WLA lottery members from Africa, Europe and Latin America share their experiences of certification using the DigitalRG.com platform, and how the process has greatly improved.

Artificial intelligence benefits many aspects of business, and for the lottery and sports betting industry, in particular, enhancing customer service and implementing effective measures to provide responsible gaming. In an interview with WLA member Veikkaus, we learn how this lottery is leading the way by deploying AI across its operations.
