2024 WLA Academy Scholarship program

For over a decade, the WLA Scholarship program has encouraged global lottery professionals to participate as speakers at WLA seminars. WLA financial support provides selected lottery staff with the opportunity to take part in educational events.

Around 2100 participants attended events organized by WLA and its regional partners throughout the year.

Taking place in Asia, Europe and Latin America, the events examined key themes for the regulated lottery and sports betting industries. Topics included: developments in marketing, responsible gaming, preventing sports competition manipulation, tackling illegal betting, security and risk management, aspects of running sports books and the importance and benefits of certification to the WLA Responsible Gaming framework and the WLA Security Control Standard.

The World Lottery Summit

During our landmark biennial event – the World Lottery Summit – held in Paris, we welcomed the global, regulated lottery and sports betting community, for a week of sharing knowledge and experiences. It was an excellent opportunity to focus efforts to continue the mandate to raise funds and support many causes worldwide.

Organized together with host lottery Groupe FDJ, the business program and tradeshow allowed participants to discuss latest products and services with suppliers and participate in the business program, with keynote and industry expert speakers, including representatives from WLA members and suppliers.  

Some of the themes included: supporting good causes, responsible gaming, security certification, combatting illegal betting, sports integrity, and marketing and innovation.

Outstanding contributions to our industry were acknowledged with the WLA Advertising, Responsible Gaming, and lifetime achievement awards.
