Play for Society

Every year, our industry generates huge funds which support good causes in the areas of: arts and culture, education, the environment, healthcare, and sports.

Our raison d’être is to positively impact global societies. Without this assistance, many worthy projects would simply not exist.

For its part, WLA lottery and sports betting members gave back over USD 91 billion to good causes, worldwide, in 2023. (Source: WLA Global Lottery Data Compendium).

Play for Society was begun in 2020, to share and promote the important contribution our members, and industry make to society. Discover the important difference our members make to people, communities and societies around the world.

The Play for Society project invites WLA members to submit articles, videos and images of the benefits they bring to communities and individuals through the good causes they support.

We also develop a Play for Society display for the World Lottery Summit, to showcase this great work to the global lottery and sports betting community, which meets every two years for our industry’s landmark global congress.
