Recognizing excellence
Play for Society is our way of recognizing and showcasing this inspirational and important work. Without these funds, many worthy causes and communities would not receive the vital support they need. This year we are adding a new category for Emergency Aid.
Responding to emergencies
In recent years, many disasters (natural and man-made) have negatively affected millions of people around the world. Below are some examples of how WLA members have provided vital support to those in need:
2025
- Hong Kong Jockey Club made funds available to victims of the Tai Po fire.
- The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office helped deliver essential supplies to families affected by Typhoon Uwan.
- Loterie Romande contributed to relief efforts to support the village of Blatten that was destroyed during an avalanche.
2024
- Lotterywest contributes to a disaster recovery fund to support communities impacted by natural disasters.
2023
- Singapore Pools employees helped distribute supplies to families during the global COVID 19 pandemic, while the lottery provided charities and seniors with IT training to be able to live and work remotely during lockdown.
2022
- Ithuba contributed to a government relief fund set up to assist flood victims in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
