Revamped communications products and new publications hub launched
Over the course of the year, the WLA launched its new publications hub, which will house all WLA publications henceforth. Our communications products were revamped with a modern look and feel, for the magazine, blog, best practice guides, annual review, and the Global Lottery Data Compendium.
The enhanced format is:
- More accessible across devices (mobile, tablet, desktop)
- Easier and faster to navigate to information of interest
- Quicker to update and share content
- Offers the potential to develop other products; and
- Provides increased accessibility options for the WLA’s diverse audience.

Additionally, a new Security and Risk Management area was established to house materials developed by the Security and Risk Management Committee (SRMC). It contains the new WLA Security Control Standard in English, French and German, as well as the updated Guide to Certification. These documents can also be found on the WLA website, which remains the issuing authority for these materials.
As a result, we were able to promote our content (coverage of events and the work of our committees) more effectively. We increased our output across the blog, magazine and social media by 128%, 21% and 16% respectively, compared with 2023, all of which contributed to the rise in our social media followers on LinkedIn to 4700 from 3100 at the close of the previous year.
Another key project was the work done to promote our new strategy, through social media campaigns, and the launch of the new WLA video.
Compendium goes fully digital
The 2024 WLA Global Lottery Data Compendium was published in an entirely online format for the first time on the new publications site.
Released just prior to the World Lottery Summit (WLS) in October, in Paris, the 11th edition covers 93.7% of the WLA regular membership and an estimated 99.5% of WLA member lottery and sports betting sales. It is complemented by profiles of more than 140 individual lottery and sports betting members for FY 23/22 on the WLA website.
Benefits of the new format
This edition is similar in scope and format of the 10th anniversary edition, and enjoys the same contemporary look and feel. It is easier to access and use, and provides key new features, such as:
- Interactive charts and graphs
- Wikipedia-style referencing and cross-referencing
- Multi-language support (English, Chinese, French, German, and Spanish)
- Web accessibility support; and a
- Facsimile PDF print option.
The digital format also allows for the progressive update of content in real time, in response to the latest industry developments.
