On September 17th, 2024, the ALEA (Asociación de Loterías Estatales Argentinas) in collaboration with the WLA (World Lottery Association) hosted a significant workshop titled “Certificar con confianza: Cómo navegar por los niveles de juego responsable de WLA en digitalRG.com” in Buenos Aires. The event brought together officials from 15 Argentine lotteries, providing a crucial opportunity to deepen their understanding of the WLA Responsible Gaming (RG) certification process and the powerful role of digitalRG.com in streamlining it.
The workshop, held at the ALEA Meeting Center, kicked off with a warm welcome from Dr. Ida López, President of ALEA, and Executive Director Mario Trucco, who greeted participants from 17 jurisdictions across the country. Via Zoom from Canada, Lynne Roiter, WLA's General Secretary, and Melissa Azam, Senior CSR Manager, offered insights into the WLA certification process, its progress in Latin America, and the growing importance of Responsible Gaming in the region.
The workshop’s core content was delivered by Victoria Ferrando of digitalRG.com, who expertly guided attendees through the WLA Responsible Gaming Framework (RGF), outlining the various certification levels and how they can demonstrate their commitment to responsible gaming. She also highlighted how digitalRG.com simplifies the submission process for certification, ensuring that all applicants – from lotteries to licensed betting operators – can navigate the process with confidence.
Why WLA Responsible Gaming Certification matters
The WLA Responsible Gaming Framework (RGF) enables lotteries and their providers to adhere to the highest industry standards, ensuring the protection of players while balancing revenue generation and responsible entertainment. Certification is a key step for any lottery or operator seeking to demonstrate their commitment to best practices.
In 2024, the certification submission process became even more efficient with the introduction of digitalRG.com. The platform streamlines the submission and evaluation process, allowing lotteries to complete all certification levels – from commitment to continuous improvement – through a single online portal. This new approach helps both the Independent Assessment Panel and WLA business offices in evaluating and certifying submissions faster and more effectively.
Highlights of the workshop
Victoria Ferrando’s session provided an in-depth look at the WLA Responsible Gaming Framework and its four levels of achievement, which reflect how successfully an organization has embedded Responsible Gaming Principles into its operations. She emphasized the importance of each of the 10 program elements, which include key areas such as research, employee and retailer programs, game design, player education, and treatment referral.
Participants were particularly engaged by discussions around the new submission procedures for 2024, where all submissions must be made through digitalRG.com. The platform offers a personalized experience, from gap analysis to certification submission, and a chance to book a demo for a deeper understanding of the process.
A commitment to excellence in responsible gaming
As lotteries and gaming operators continue to focus on responsible gaming, ALEA remains committed to supporting its members through capacity-building initiatives like this workshop. The collaboration with WLA and digitalRG.com reflects a shared goal of advancing responsible gaming standards globally.
For those looking to embark on their certification journey, the last submission deadline for 2024 is October 1st.
