LAUSANNE, 26 May 2026

Driven by the success of numbers games and sports betting, the results for the 2025 financial year confirm the solidity and stability of Loterie Romande’s business model. Gross gaming revenues, i.e. wagers minus winnings paid out to players, totalled CHF 429.8 million. This result is due to a combination of favourable factors, such as long EuroMillions jackpot cycles, and does not signal an upward trend in gross gaming revenues for the coming years. Loterie Romande relies on a network of 2,350 points of sale in French-speaking Switzerland as well as on its online betting platform to offer a secure range of games within a framework that protects the public against the risks associated with excessive gambling. In line with its mission, all profits, i.e. CHF 252 million in 2025, are distributed to almost 5,000 public-utility projects in French-speaking Switzerland. “Loterie Romande is delighted to contribute to the vitality of the social fabric of French-speaking Switzerland through a unique model that combines the attractiveness of its products, a responsible framework and the distribution of all profits for the public good,” notes François Longchamp, Chairman of Loterie Romande.

A strong business model supported by dynamic gaming offerings

In 2025, Loterie Romande offered a diversified and innovative range of games, comprising 47 scratch cards and e-tickets, seven numbers games, sports betting in 26 disciplines and betting on horse racing.

The 2025 financial year confirms the solidity of Loterie Romande’s business model, supported by the development of digital products, the success of the new Loto Express format, long EuroMillions jackpot cycles and a dynamic range of sports betting. “These results reflect the continuity of recent years and demonstrate Loterie Romande’s ability to reconcile economic strength, innovation and social responsibility in a challenging regulatory environment,” says CEO Jean-Luc Moner-Banet.

Loterie Romande’s business also contributes to the local economy: CHF 79.2 million in sales commission was paid to the 2,350 partner businesses in the six French-speaking cantons. This remuneration represents essential support for points of sale, both in villages and in urban centres.

Strong commitment to player protection

Protecting minors and vulnerable people from the risks associated with gambling is one of Loterie Romande’s core tasks. With this in mind, the institution implements an extensive programme of measures to protect players.

All points of sale are trained in applying the ban on gambling by minors, preventing excessive gambling, detecting risky behaviour and referrals to specialist centres. Application of public protection measures at the points of sale are systematically monitored: 2,959 checks were carried out in 2025 by mystery shoppers.

A powerful new tool for the early detection of at-risk gamblers was introduced on the online gaming platform in 2025. This tool assesses the risk profile of players and provides personalised recommendations. In the event of over-indebtedness, failure to fulfil their financial obligations or placing bets that are disproportionate to their income or assets, players are registered in the national register of persons excluded from gaming of Loterie Romande, Swisslos and casinos in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Key support for projects promoting French-speaking Switzerland

Thanks to its redistributive model, Loterie Romande paid all its profits – CHF 252 million in 2025 – to associations in the fields of culture, social welfare, health, research, education, the environment, tourism, heritage and sport.

In 2025, Loterie Romande donated almost CHF 20 million to elite sport – Swiss Olympic, the Swiss Football Association and the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation – as well as CHF 42 million to amateur sport in support of infrastructure, sporting events and the training of the next generation in the six French-speaking cantons. In addition to sport, Loterie Romande contributes every day to the dynamism and diversity of the social and cultural fabric by supporting projects that strengthen social cohesion and contribute to promoting French-speaking Switzerland.
