A webinar designed to help WLA lotteries and sports betting operator members prepare a strong and effective application for responsible gaming certification was hosted by DigitalRG.com, on 22 July.

The message was loud and clear: Achieving WLA Responsible Gaming certification to Level 2 is a condition of WLA membership and the next deadline is October.

Melissa Azam, WLA CSR and Security Coordinator, underscored the importance of instiling trust in the regulated lottery and sports betting industry through certification:

"This requirement was made compulsory, because RG is the foundation of public trust for lotteries, and trust is at the foundation of all that we do", said .

Laura da Silva, Founder of DigitalRG.com, the platform used by WLA members to complete RG certification, moderated the webinar, noting:

“The WLA and DigitalRG are ready to support all lotteries on their RG certification journey.”

Requirements for each level of RG certification

  • Level 2 requires applicants to provide an honest picture of their current RG status and to understand what gaps exist.
  • Level 3 builds on level 2 with the added need to develop an action plan and to have begun working to achieve its goals.
  • Level 4 the process changes and requires an independent auditor to verify that the submission is factually correct and has the right supporting evidence.

Da Silva noted that the application's final decision is taken by the IAP, not the auditor, and that for level 4, it is important to demonstrate how effectiveness is measured and to show continual improvement.

The Independant Assessment Panel was introduced:
