In an ever-changing industry, many factors including, regulations, technology, responsible gaming, cyber security, the illegal betting and gaming markets, and threats to sports integrity, greatly impact the way our members develop and deliver their products and services.
Against this backdrop, the WLA Executive Committee carefully elaborated our new strategic plan over the course of 2023. The plan was approved and the four-year roll out has begun.
Enhancing our member support
The new strategic plan redefines the WLA purpose, vision and mission, to enhance the support we provide our evolving membership.
- Purpose: to support and promote the efforts of our global member organizations in providing socially responsible offerings, to raise funds for good causes around the world. These efforts must consider different elements for developing products and services, such as ensuring responsible gaming, and addressing environmental, security and privacy issues, among others.
- Vision: for WLA to become recognized by key stakeholder groups as the global lottery and sports betting authority that supports its members in contributing to society, for which we must further strengthen our value proposition.
- Mission: to achieve our vision to progress the global, legal lottery and sports betting ecosystem, by providing members with subject matter expertise, certification and standards, and upholding the highest standard of Responsible Gaming in the sector.
Rolling out our new strategic plan
As we begin the four-year roll out phase, we are delivering different initiatives.
New WLA video
The video’s key message is that our industry can create a better future for all if we work together – in other words with our support of each member association to perform at its best, realize the highest standards of RG, and raise funds to support good causes that have an impact on diverse communities around the world.
Responsible Gaming Q&A tool
The strategic plan defines six key areas of focus. One of these, is to develop resources/tools with best practices, case studies, and other information to support and promote the Corporate Social Responsibility efforts of our members.
This year, we expect to launch our first tool – a Q & A module for members with Responsible Gaming questions – which can be submitted to our network of CSR experts for answering, any time a member has a question. All members will benefit from the Q and A which will remain displayed and be a useful responsible gaming resource.
